How does manufacturing ERP manage production?
Through the work order. A sales order becomes one or more work orders, each carrying its routing and bill of materials. On release, material is reserved and the operations are placed on work centres. Stores issue material by lot against the order, each operation records its output, scrap and downtime as it completes, a failed check holds the batch, and finished goods are received by lot. The order closes with its actual cost, and at any point it shows where it is and what is holding it up.
