The situation
The quote is built in one file and the order typed into another.
A customer asks for a price. Someone opens an old costing sheet, adds material and labour by hand and emails a PDF. When the customer agrees, the same details are typed again into a sales order, and the cost the price was based on is never looked at again. If the BOM has changed since the sheet was made, the quote was wrong before it went out.
- Quotes are priced from a costing sheet, not from the BOM the plant will build to.
- A revised quote overwrites the last one, so nobody can say what the customer was offered a month ago.
- An accepted quote is re-typed into a sales order, and a quantity or a line gets missed.
